CBT : COGNITIVE BEHAVIOURAL THERAPY

NOVO Therapy and Care offers cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). This is a type of talking therapy that helps you manage your problems by encouraging you to recognise how your thoughts can affect your feelings and behaviour. CBT includes both a cognitive and behavioural approach. This type of therapy aims to breakdown overwhelming issues into smaller parts, allowing you to manage them easier.

As our thoughts and behaviours influence each other, CBT aims to help change the way we think or behave in a situation, therefore, changing the way we feel about life. CBT studies learnt behaviours, habits, and any negative thought patterns, aiming to turn these into more positive thoughts.

CBT sessions mainly focus on current concerns affecting your daily life, whilst also considering your past events and experiences. During the session, your therapist will help you to understand any negative thought patterns you have, learning how they affect you most and what can be done to change them.

This type of therapy has become one of the most popular forms of talk therapy. It is recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence for mental health conditions.

CBT can be done on a one-to-one basis or in a group setting. Everything that you discuss with your therapist will remain confidential. The length of these sessions can be anywhere from six weeks to much longer, depending on your situation. Initially, your therapist will guide you during the sessions, but once your treatment is over, you should feel confident and comfortable enough to continue the content, structure, and work on your own.
